A restaurant captain's responsibilities include:
Welcoming guests: Greet guests in a friendly manner and thank them when they leave
Assisting with reservations: Help guests make reservations and seat them
Serving food and drinks: Take orders, serve food, and make beverage recommendations
Preparing food: Prepare food in front of guests
Managing staff: Train and supervise staff
Managing inventory: Maintain inventory and ensure cleanliness in the food and beverage service area
Communicating with staff: Keep in contact with the chef and kitchen staff, and confirm beverage stock with bartenders
A restaurant captain should also have a good knowledge of the menu and presentation standards, and be able to answer questions about the menu.
