A Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for identifying new business opportunities and clients, and developing strategies to help a company grow. Some of their responsibilities include:
Setting goals: Setting goals for the business and the business development team, and developing strategies to meet those goals
Researching: Researching prospective accounts in target markets, and organizations and individuals to find new opportunities
Planning: Planning and implementing new target market initiatives, and planning and overseeing new marketing initiatives
Developing: Developing quotes and proposals for prospective clients, and marketing and sales strategies
Pursuing: Pursuing leads and moving them through the sales cycle
Training: Training business development staff
Delegating: Delegating sales and marketing tasks among team members
Comparing: Comparing current sales numbers to desired quotas
Meeting: Meeting with upper management to discuss progress
Contacting: Contacting potential clients to establish rapport and arrange meetings
